A Retreat in Ayrshire
After a few long, stressful, busy months, I decided to go on a spontaneous retreat to Ayrshire for writing, relaxation, and exploring.
Occasional short retreats like this have become really important to my process. Being autistic, I can become overwhelmed quite easily, and then my work progress begins to taper off. Just taking a few days away from the city (and sometimes my work) can put me back in the mindset to work.
This time, I settled on a coachhouse in Ayrshire, which had the coziest writing room I could possibly imagine.
And the view! Oh, the view!
Just walking through that house for the first time, all I could think was:
perfect
PERFECT
P E R F E C T.
We came at just the right time: spring was finally here.
The house was close to the Clyde estuary, so we didn’t have to drive far to get to the lovely seaside.
Every day, we returned to a glorious sunset . . .
We were also not far from the ferry to the Cowal Peninsula, which I visited for the first time. We took a walk in Puck’s Glen, which is one of the most beautiful forest trails I’ve ever seen.
I am more than ready to get back to work.
More later, much love
